Felipe Bedoya's work contemplates his idea of home to construct places of bricolage that house memory, shelter loneliness and where the origin of the artist always lives as an aesthetic reference. In ruminating on his own history, Bedoya reflects on vital practices that concern all living beings, creating his work can be extrapolated and interpreted globally. His work pushes ideas of social phenomena, biodiversity and migratory processes into the visual sphere as explorations of the psychological and emotional experiences of humans in the face of change and in constant movement towards unexplored places.
Bedoya considers photography a conglomeration of discrete parts, as superimposed objects that come together to create meaning. In physically breaking down an original photograph, Bedoya selects the elements that build the foundations of his own narrative. In the process of isolating and curating, the image is stripped of its indexicality as the original meaning and purpose of the photograph is reconfigured and redefined to adopt a visual language more typical of drawing or painting. This exercise in understanding, isolating, and translating reality, Bedoya displaces the digital to brings the work back to the analog, inviting the viewer to question the technical nature of a work where the limits that frame it are mediated by emptiness, distance, and silence.
