Tayloe Piggott Gallery is pleased to present Designing with Nature, a showroom of unique, hand crafted furniture by designer Chris Lehrecke. Unfolding a new chapter within the gallery’s history, this show debuts within the Tayloe Piggott Project Space and opens alongside a trunk show of jewelry by Gabriella Kiss. United by marriage, Lehrecke and Kiss collaborate on many designs, illuminating the diverse nature of art within their sculptural furniture and jewelry. An artist reception to celebrate the opening of this curated showroom and trunk show will be held Friday, June 14th from 6-8pm. All are invited to attend.
Chris Lehrecke has designed furniture for over three decades. Although trained as a studio artist, Lehrecke turned to the art of furniture in the early 80s. He began by designing high-end, custom pieces for architects and interior designers, yet quickly honed his own practice and made a name for his himself within the world of design. Due to his eye for timeless shapes paired with natural lines, Lehrecke’s designs evolved into a limited production line of lamps, benches, stools, daybeds, pedestals, tables and bed frames. Each piece reverberates Lehrecke’s aesthetic, which is defined by his crisp, modern style, quality of materials, and simplistic ethos. Represented by Ralph Pucci International in New York City, Lehrecke’s work truly reflects the epitome of high-end design.
Gabriella Kiss, Lehrecke’s wife, creates jewelry that reveals the beauty within the smallest aspects of nature. Her earrings and necklaces personify snakes, wasps, ants, and bees- highlighting the subtle splendor of living creatures. Working with gemstones full of color, Kiss’ aesthetic is elegantly simplistic and wearable. Exuding a similar philosophy of design and curiosity, Kiss and Lehrecke often collaborate on design projects. For Lehrecke’s Elm Branch Series, Gabriella designed the mushroom-shaped handles. Creating artful additions to furniture as well as her own wooden marvels, Kiss allows her imagination and curiosity for the world to inspire her to build organic decorations for your home or hand.
Based in Bangall, New York, Lehrecke and Kiss are driven by their passion for quality craftmanship and original design. Recognizing the creative synergy between the couple, Tayloe Piggott Gallery invites you to discover Lehrecke’s world-class furniture that will be on display for the summer season in the Project Space. Kiss’ extended collection of jewelry will be at Tayloe Piggott Gallery from June 10th through June 19th within the gallery’s main exhibition space.
